-14- was to be baptized according to the Luthran's belief. She thought if the child was not baptized he would be looked upon as a fool and him baptized against her conviction. The next three children were perfect in form, and none of them could hear or speak. She said it was a judgment from Heaven against her. She believed in friends' way. But if the children were raised that way she thought they would appear like fools. We went from here to Gyland, seven miles; and had a meeting in the Baptist meeting house. The house was full, and a large crowd outside, and windows full. All were quiet. I never attended a better meeting. Many testimonies were borne to the everlasting truth. Ida's brother, Tobias, interpreted for E. J. Bye. We staid with Ida's father four days, and had another meeting in the same meeting house. Seventh month, 9th. We now went back to Aamodt where we had two meetings. Ida was largely exercised in the ministry. The meeting held two hours. Many wept while Ida spoke.
