-55- as the light was turned on me; and power was given me to resist the devil and all his works. Fearful thoughts rushed through my mind concerning Judas, the traitor etc. I never was able to describe to thee in full, the traitor's doom. My whole frame was shocked; and I was made to tremble at that which I had seen and heard that day. Thy poor father! how he wept over their cruel deeds; tender as a lamb among them. He and thee have a right to shake off the dust of your feet against them. I have thought many times since that that day was the most critical day of my life. The test was put before me as never before in all my life; my foundation was tried as it never had been before. I was an object of pity standing between two great powers; with the divine conviction in my heart at steak. And O, the sweet peace that followed my decision that time still flows as a river of life. Praises, yes, praises to the most High God and the Lamb be ascribed now and forever more for the victory over the cruel traitor, the Dragon, the Devil, and the false prophets, who, had shunned thee by turning their faces from thee: all these represented the spirit of the traitor.
