Chamness returned from your meeting with great joy and comfort that God favored her to be present at your meeting according to his purposes, but contrary to yours she went at the call of her Lord as into the very mouth's of Lions, and as into the firy furnace, and as Mary Dyer returned to Boston to die, so would Ida Chamness return to North Carolina had she known that the same fate awaited her. She has returned to us the same deep, sweet spirited Christian woman; and has been confined to her bed ever since, clothed with thanksgiving and praises to her God. At home, Eleventh month., 21st., 1913 My dear friends Rebecca Cook and James Hawley, I feel it may perhaps, not be amiss to inform you how I came to go to North Carolina Yearly meeting. You my remember I laid my concern before the monthly meeting,--of visiting in gospel love, all of the meetings of the Conservative Friends in North Carolina. And also visit them in their homes. But I did not mention the yearly meeting, in fact, I did not feel a concern, at that time; and knew not that I should, (even if a minute had been granted me), And not until, something like twenty or thirty minutes
