Saving...
July 14th or 15th got back last evening from below and had rather a hard trip, as it rained almost constantly tewt's wife look mirte than ever I saw how a mere wreck of her former self, a perfect Shaddow with a racking cough and I think on the border of consumption though recruiting, Miss Alvira has been Staying with her for three or four weeks, her health is much improved and She Says she feels well yet She does not look like the Girl of old, all like the country week I recd two silk handkerchief by Alvira for which I give you Credit allways thank full for Small favours and large ones in proportion and will forward James to him the earliest opportunity. I Should like to See you Harriett as you will know. I have other relation that we would be pleased to See, yet few supply the place of a Sister, & none knew the Pass of one untill forced to be Sepperated from them, and it makes no kind of difference what position a man is placed in whether the giddy throng or the Sedate Sober thinking part of community whether in the company of those he lives in with those he abhord, I say it matters not, a Sisters advice and Example will naturaly steal over him and have its influence which is allways for the best I often think of you, now of the kind motherly care that you exercised over me, though perhaps thou I did not appreciate your generosity then
