Pine Plains Sept 19th 1859 Henry Eno Dear Brother What do you think of letting me have your little girl Carrie I think the name is. Mrs Eno & I have been talking the matter over and have concluded that probably you might think it would be well for her, and conclude to let her come. if so and you could send her in charge of some one I [illegible] were coming to New York we could go down & get her should we be informed where she was there. we will endeavour to bring her up well and I should think that it might be better for her as in case you was [taken?] away she would have no relatives there.
