I presumed I took the drafts but they would throw no light upon it for if the endorsements had been on they would have appeared in the statement. Having three entries on my books all agreeing that is - cash, bills payable, & ledger. I don't see how I can be misstaken. As to Carrie, Knapp wrote me that her board had not been paid for some time & Henry had applied to a friend to take her, but he had so much family he could not. Another family wanted to adopt her. My fear that she will fall into bad hands & that it would be much better for her to be among her family
