Illinois State Sanitary Commission Claim Department. Springfield, May 18, 1865. Dr Brother I'm writing you in reference to brother Harry - it has occurred to me that perhaps we ought to help him a little, so that his pride may not be too much affronted by shaby appearances, for I think he must look quite seedy. If you think proper and will send him $50 I will send you $25. Perhaps, a little start & letter of encouragement from us will keep up his spirits and resolution to resist temptation.
