that some of her friends in the [atlantic?] states wanted to have the child sent home to him if there is any who wants her at present, would it not be better to have arrangements made to take her home, my wife - while she is under her care will take good charge of her but she does not want to adopt her & cannot keep her without being pd for her trouble There are some families in this country who would readily adopt her, as their daughter, but as we deem it best, she should be with her own kindred -- if they want her -- we do not [illegible] until we hear from them. The child shows great symtoms of intellegence, actively [illegible], enjoys perfect health, & should certainly be a source of great comfort to her mothers relations, [illegible] could take the same interest in her that they [illegible] no place would her future life, [illegible] & interests be so well cared for, no other place on earth could be a home for her. I have not time to write any more at present please let me hear from you on the subject at your earliest convenience -- I remain very respy [illegible] [signature]
