company was relieved and we come to camp. Nice weather. Sep 16th Just after dark last night 10 men and 1 officer ware detailed from our company for extra guards. I was detailed and soon after dark it commenced raining and continued rain all night in torrents but no help for us we had to stand and take it. A detachment of our men were sent out toward Kimble and found where the enemy had the fight among themselves and gathered up One thousand blankets and great amounts of camp equipage and took 14 men prisoners that appeared
