in torrents all night so that our [rest?] was not [__nion?] Several of the boys who had laid down in their wet clothes and fallen to sleep from sheer fatigue had to be carried to the fire and awaked to keep them from perishing For [illeg#] nights I have not closed my eyes to sleep and am nearly give out and still I believe I am as peart as any member in our company. There was 19 horses perished last night belonging to the 14th Ind & 25th Ohio Reg. Our Regiment moved over to this [illeg] [2 or 3 illeg] are building fires [and?] drying themselves and resting [2 illeg] [nothing?] [illeg] to do the today.
