a friend. is suspected of being a spy. I searched him but found but little in his possession gave his effects to Col. Wood. I dont know what was in the papers I took from him. Calls his name Ed Head. Jan 20th Weathe Pleasant. Nothing new or important. Jan 21st Weather Cloudy Heavy Thunder Storm and rain last night I am nearly sick with bad cold. Got the news to day that Zillicoffer was both defeated and Killed which created a great amount of rejoicing in Camp. The Officers some of them celebrated
