for ush cross the River in. The 17th Ind Started across at 12 Oclock and did not all get over until dark consequently we did not start. I am officer of the Guard and have a verry uncomfortable time owing to the continual hard rain. Feb 20. Rained verry hard nearly all night last night with thunder and lightning. The river is so high that it is impossible to get across today consequently we are ordered down to Mumfordville to cross there. Col. Wagner ordered 10 extra teams from the 50th Ind. Reg. to help us to Mumfordville. Started at 11 O
