Was in town, Saw "Mock" of the Comunicial with two "pounds of rations" and eighty of cartriges, Got off at dark and with the whole brigade under com'd of Gen. Turchin, we crossed the river and camped two miles down the river, west of Chattanooga 27th At 3 AM we were on the move going to the river half a mile in front, Hogen's brigade had by this time reached the rendezvous, having come from C -- by Pontoon They landed under a slight fire and took one of the two hills which were the object of the expedition
