at brig Hd Qr's at 3 1/2 in morning 23d The order countermanded at 9 last night At Noon we see long lines of our men moving out in front and at 2 our brigade moved out, our reg't and 17th being on fatigue did not go until near night, A very heavy fire opened from all the guns in our front, fort Negly and Wood plying their 24s and 32s. The line advances and brisk skirmishing is kept up until 4, Our men captured 3 or 400 prisoners
