68 Marion Iowa November 30th 1903 The Cary Club met with Mrs. Brown, the President presiding, the Secretary being absent Mrs. Mentzer was appointed Sec pro tem, Eight members responded to roll call, Minutes of previous meeting read and approved Mrs. Voris read her paper on "Extravagance of American People". The rest of the program being absent, current events were taken up, Club adjourned to meet with Mrs Mentzer on Dec 14th. Mrs. J. C. Davis Ellen G Mentzer President Sec Pro Tem Marion Iowa Dec 14th 1903. Club met with Mrs. Mentzer, none of the officers being present, Mrs Brown was called to the chair and Mrs Mentzer acted as Secretary, Seven members responded to roll call. Minutes of last meeting read and approved Mrs. Griffiths whose paper "America Among the Nations" was main part of program was absent, current events were presented and an informal discussion of [illegible] of the topics followed. Mrs. Ives presented Mrs Alexander's offer to the Federation that Cary's furnish a sales lady for one day - next Thursday and the Federation have one fourth the profits accruing from sales for the day, for the Library fund. Mrs Brown was chosen and she suggested sending her daughter in her place which suggestion was accepted by those present. Club adjourned to meet with Mrs. Hadrian in two weeks.
