April, 1936. The April meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held Tuesday, April 21, at the home of Mrs. E.W. Gregson. Miss Butler in charge. Devotions were read by Mrs. Stewart. Delightful music was furnished by Mrs. Grace Peck. The guest speaker for the day was Rev. C.R. Rowe, his theme being "Liquor Advertising, and What We Shall do About It." Calling attention to the harm being done by radio, movies, and press advertisements, and urging us to use every means in our power to combat these things. Business meeting in charge of Miss Butler. Com. on posters not ready to report. Com. continued. Miss Bailey read letters received from Lloyd Thurston and Louie Murphy in reply to letters sent asking them to support the "Kapper Bill" opposed to legalizing gambling in the United States. Miss Bailey asked the members not to vote for Frank M. Hanson, candidate for state auditor. Mrs. Robert Lincoln reported $23.50 from the bake sale.
