Jun 16 W.C.T.U. met at the Home of Mrs. Harvey Mikel with the Vice President Mrs McBlain presiding. Mrs. Mikel had charge of Devotionals reading Isaiah 6:22 & John 22:27 "Dedicated Hands" followed by short prayers by the members. Mrs. Whitley gave a review of The Champion and Union Signal stressing Jennie Cassidy's Flower Mission. Then and Now. Why The 18th Amendment was repealed was Concluded By Mrs McBlain. Secretary's report was read and accepted as read. Treasurer reported 37.00 In the treasuer [sic]. A motion made by Mrs. Jane and 2nd By Pepoon We have no picnic or W.C.T.U meeting in July. A Nominating Committee was chosen to select new Officers for the ensuing year. Composing of Mrs Jones as Chairman with Mrs. Skiles and Pepoon assistants. Nellie Lincoln and Mrs. Allen were choosen [sic] to get combination rulers and Book markers for the grade schools. 8 members were present. W.C.T.U. Benediction closed the meeting. Eva M. Pepoon Secretary Aug 18 WCTU meet [sic] at The home of Mrs. Eva Pepoon with 8 members present and one guest Mrs. McDowell. In the absence of both The President and Vice President had charge of the meeting. She She [sic] opened the meeting by 2 members leading in prayer. Mrs. Saville had charge of Devotionals, reading 1st Peter 1 to 8 followed by all singing Stand up for Jesues [sic]. Mrs Casand had the lesson. She gave a very intersting [sic] article on President Eisenhower's Religion and The Inaugural prayer. Secretary's report read and approved as read. Tresuer [sic] gave the anual [sic] report for the year With a Balance of $40.49. The chairman of the Nominating Committee reported several member [sic] had been contacted to set as President of The WCTU. As The Committee had no canidate [sic], Ballots were prepared & passed out. Nellie Lincoln & Mrs. Allen tied each receiving 3 votes. As both canidates [sic] declined. A Motion By Nellie Sinclair 2nd By Mrs. Jones Mrs McBlain Be appointed President and Mrs. Casand Vice-President Motion carried. Motion by Pepoon 2nd by Casand That Nellie Lincoln the treasurs [sic] or 2 each of The Union Signal and Young Crusader. Nellie Sinclair was instructed to find out how many [grad?] pupils there are and order combination Book Markers and rulers @$2.00 per 100
