June 17 1913 The Woman's Christian Temperence Union met in the Congregational Church Parlor June 17 - Sang "Courider the Lillies" President read a perifture lesson. Prayer by Mrs Braude. Minutes read and approved. Miss Bailey distributed Purity Leaflets Mrs Meachem and Mrs Conly were pleased to hear the children of Cooper school recite their temperence lesson - we had a discusion on the influence of the Professors and the Students in the College Smoking. Mrs Hill was appointed to trim a float for July 4th for the W. C. T. U. Miss Clark reported one hundred Boquets and cards sent to Mitchelville, Mrs Natland read a short story telling of Mrs Willard giving a white Rose to a deaf and dumb lamp lighter. Mrs Nelson told of the life of Miss Jennie Cassidy who by an accident was made a sufferer for the remainder of her life She read in the New York Observer how a teacher brot flowers from the country to please the children so She founded the Flower Mission from reading the article, Miss Willard visited Miss Cassidy in her home in Louisville Ren, Miss Cassidy died in 1893 and ask that her Birthday June 9 be kept as Flower Mission day.
