reason to be thankful that I am as well off as I am - Mr Guthrie returned some time (illegible) & I rec'd from him $900 (illegible) Williams. I will write to him in a few days. I don't know what I should have done if I had not rec'd it - I believe I should have been ruined - our land sales are postponed until March - for the next six months I shall be much in (room?) & I shall write frequently - I am now too weak to write a long letter which must be my exam for this (?), though weak my love & affection for my Father is as strong as ever Your affectionate son Henry Eno Tell William that W - Van Allen of Rinderhooks died two or three days ago, he was the District Attorney for the Territory, an office (worth?) $1200 & which I should like but shall make no effort to obtain as I have no friends at the White House.
