Saving...
Sue says she is homesick but if she has a book to read she is all right. I like to study a great deal better than I thought I would, and I think I would like to go entirely through the school, but I don't know it is according to what I want to do. Stell is getting along quite well with her drawing, and seems very anxious to work, but Sue does not seem to care. Our finances are quite low and I think need replenishing with a part of the golden ducats you seem to be supplied with. I think you had better come out here and build a house and live a retired life, to which you seem well suited. I am writing this with Sue's gold pen and it is no good. I told Sue to pack my pen did not so I must buy one. How are the men getting along with their crops and how do the colts act. We got the bundle of papers and your letter enclosed. Well I must close hoping to hear from you soon. I remain your son. W.H.C.
