Well Child I know you will ask how I get along so I will tell you I am doing as well as can be expected considering the degraded position I have taken as a country school teacher for I would like to have you or any other man define a position in which a man can be placed in that is more degraded than our present you may talk of [dram?] peddlers, hostlers sailors, gamblers whore masters the Devil and all and you or any other man who has had the experience can not say that they have a higher station in that human family then a common school teacher But I will say no more about the poor dissipated cusses for they have it hard enough and should be pitted knaves I have 55 scholars & have [12?] classes in the fore noon and 15 in the after noon I have two classes in Algebra then I have Bookkeeping history
