Camanche Nov 19, 1861 Dear Sister It is a long time since I heard from you last I think you are nearly forgetting us away out here among the Hoosiers for so I must call them for they do not act much like the Eastern People we are all well at present except Jakey he has the Ague Mother has quit drinking and is as fat as she can be she has not weaned Flory yet Flory talks but very little yet I suppose your baby walks talks and plays the Piano by this time [rest of line deleted] [line deleted] Clime there was one of our neighbour girls Died last Monday with the same disease Je[nines?] Child Died with she was about my age she took cold at the Fair she has been very weakly for years I helped make the Childrens Mourning Clothes Clime I have earned this summer 24 dollars and was at home through haying and harvesting and am now at home to commence school next Monday the times are very hard in this state but not so hard but the young people [offerd?] to dance I have an invitation to go to one this week but I do not think I shall go write what you have now and the Fashions for winter and write the prise of the Hair nets if they are worn now and if they have any new Fashioned Bonnets or Hoods Tell Henry I am very glad he has concluded to come West next summer Clime I have had a very bad cold ever since the Fair but I am getting better now Jakey wants me to write he is going to have a new soldier cap and a new pair of red pants trimmed with blue
