Feb 9 / 62 Dear Children I thought I would write a few lines in the [Bates?] letter Strange to think to hear the church Bells Ringing & the car trains Runing on the Sabath day I supose we would be very lonesome if we was to live on the old [Wilna] farm again not to see the cars & Boats church Bells & poor Carter & Book all gon up in [illeg] to [illeg] out theirs dayes in the wilderniss out of Sight of all Sivilization & pull stumps & Stons it is a fine day the snow 8 inches deep & good Sleighing all winter and this is the most snow evr novem in Iowa is this winter the sun shines Brighter herethen to the East Henry I am wintring 8 head of horn cattle & team & 18 hays Kind I am choping now stove wood by the cord for a year old heuffer little Jakey was wishing in the tea cup yesterday we asked what he whised for he said to see Climen & Henry my health is Better this winter then it has ben for 5 years past Sarahann selles Butter now at 10c per ll I must close I Evr Remain your Effectionate Father Jacob Grohe Dear sister Climne and [bothere?] henry I thought I Would write to you to let you know how I was geting a long I am well and I Went to a party last Week With my old [illeg] else I had a greate time there Climne I exspet to Come out easte if you dont Come out here Climne I go to speeling sChool and Singing sChool I remain your sister miss Lavinia Grohe
