Whitney Rodgers Philadelphia Sept 5th 1862 Dear Brother, I recieved your letter two weeks after it was mailed we ware glad to hear from you and family and that you ware well we began to think you had gone to the war mother has been much worried for fear you would be drafted wich some of us here will have to be soon we want 9 or 10 mo- re to make our towns quota of [600-000] we have to rais 56 the draft is posponed to the 15th I hear and I think we shall get enough by paying bounty enough some ask $125,00 besides government and state bounty wich is government $102.00 state $50.00 town $25.00 we shall have to rais the remainder by subscription we shall rais it I think with out dobt we had near forty dollars a head offerd saurday night last at ware meeting the rich old men such seth strick- land william Joder and others that have sons subject to draft let out thare money some [illegible] 20 per [illegible] I will send you names of what has enlisted as far as I know them (there has some gone I do not know) [Kolbert] L Merrick A W Potter A sigeland T B Ackerman [Jem] Kerns John Child and man
