I suppose now you are home a we wont eather of us get our letters as soon, but never mind dear it may not be many letters we will have to get or write before we wont need to write for a week or so. I cant hardly wait now Your loving Mel. Independence Iowa July 3rd 87 My darling girl: - Your little note came to hand as usual Wednesday. I was not expecting it very much as I knew you would have no chance to write Sunday I was glad to get it, even if it was only a line. I know my girl will do the best she can, and writing a letter by six in the morning shows what you will do rather than diappoint your boy, It seems so funay to think of you shivering with the cold, while all the trouble we have is to keep cool.
