54 Denison Iowa March 1st 1879 The Denison Total Abstinence Union met this evening at the Court House & was called to order by WS Wilson Prayer by the Rev. JB Hawk followed by singing after which the meeting proceeded to business In the absence of the regular officer SF Bond was elected Secretary pro tem On motion the meeting proceeded to the election of officers for the present term On motion the constitution & bylaws were read by the Presiding Officer WS Wilson On motion that part of the constitution that provides that the offices of the union shall be elected by ballot was suspended for this evening & the word acclamation substituted for the word ballot On motion the following named persons were elected to fill offices as hereafter named
