Dension Ia. Oct. 18 1879 The Denison Total Abstinence Union, not of the usual time and was called to order by the President, [Cap. Farnistorn ?]. Singing by the Choir and prayer by the Chaplain Rev. J.B. Hawk. Mrs. H.J. [Shalt ?] whereas having lost her selection favored the club with recitation of "The Star Spangled Banner" which was well rendered and highly appreciated. Followed by select reading by Julia King. Miss Bell Lamb then read a touching temperance sketch in a very effective manner. The other [?] on the Program are Misses D.M. Wallace and Dr. Hoagland were absent. The President then addressed the club presenting his apologies for absence, making-as usual-several happy hits which brought down the house and giving good advice. Mr. Partridge the selected a [piece ?], which at the request of the President he read.
