97 March 6-'39 The Cary Club met with Mrs. Reichert with eleven members present. The roll call was responded to with quotations from Eugene Field. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. A card was read from Emma Klein urging all Club members to be present at a Federated meeting Mar. 14th. Mrs. Gerald Thomas had the lesson on Eugene Field and his writings. He was born Sept. 2nd 1850 and died Nov. 4-1895. He was a successful journalist as well as a poet. Some of the poems read were: "The Tea Gown"; "Seein' Things at Night"; "Winkin Blinkin and Nod"; "Little Boy Blue"; "Suppose"; "The Gingham Dog and the Calico Cat"; "Our Whippings". Current events were discussed. Club was adjourned to meet March 20th with Mrs. Wilson. Mina Woodward, Sec'y P.J.
