Dubuque Iowa Nov 1st 1867 My Dear Sir - Inclosed find a prep copy of a letter just written to me of my fellow prisoners of Ft. LaFayette. I will write to my other friends as I have to them, for no one who suffered such outrages as we did ought ever to cease to make strenuous efforts to have ourselves placed sectus in cund & before the County & to see that our law defying persecutors be held to a strict account to us & that their infamous acts of tyranny be handed down to posterity with their names as they should be in history. I trust my Counsel Messers Chs. O'Conor & McMckeon of New York will not fail to prosecute my suit vs Seward at the proper time. How stands your Case? I recollect as tho' it were but yesterday your parents and sister but have forgotten your personal appearance. Send me your Carte De Visite & tell one of yr sister &c. Your friend Geo W. Jones Hon Jas W. Wall Burlington, New Jersey
