On Art Cont What is important to keep a person in art? Well, somebody has to be interested, don't they? You know everybody needs to have a pat high on the back sometimes, don't they? He can't get it down here all the time. Its much better to get out of an environment like that. You can't paint in a vacuum. How are you not going to be influenced by what you see? How are you going to grow? But still you have to do your own thing. You encounter that all the time: people people try to push you in this direction or the other. But you resist that all the time. Some say "I like the things you used to do better. It happens all the time. I think its nice you people like my old things - I like that. But I dont think its the end. I have a feeling that people dont like what I'm doing right now very well, but....so what. I say to myself
