alone. I've made my decision and I'm not turning from it. I mean the decision regarding Reb. I can't succour him all my life; only love would give him the claim on me which he is seeking -- and I have no love to give him. I'm leaving him in no doubt of it even while trying to encourage him. If he kills himself will I feel that I could have saved him had I lied to him? Sometimes this past week I've felt that at least he needs me and I'd be doing some good if I answered his plea, and I feel that a cool or indifferent letter from you would tip the scale.
