Clouded only 85º but oppressively sultry, with gentle shower P.M. - Charlotte sick. - sluggish S.W. breeze. - Mowed outside. Tues. 5. Fine morn. N.W. breeze. Delightful. Cool day, and no rain. Rather busy. Charlotte getting better. - Mowed croquet. Sat for photo. Cool night. Wed. 6. Glorious morn. - Preparing ground for strawberry bed, before bkfst. Fine day. Mowed N.&N.W. before supper. Annual church mtg. evg. & election. Light shower evg. Thurs. 7. Grand nice cool morn. & fine day. No rain. Second sitting. Busy with both eyes aching Carbon dioxide expos. at Court House P.M. by Prof. [Hogemanns?] Set out 36 fancy strawberries, & 40 celery, evg. Fri. 8. Beautiful morn. Fine day; cool. Head-ache all night. Better to-day. Sat. 9. Fair, early, then cloudy; cold S.E. wind after a cold night - Rainy P.M. Clara worked 1:40 hrs a.m. 4
