Roman Hyacinth bulbs. September, 1906. Sun. 9. Fair & warm. 86° Signs of rain. At mtg. morn & Evg. Lots of melons & tomatoes now & fine ones. Mon. 10. Ripe Worden grapes. Sharp thunder shower 2 o'c A.M. struck the house on Pleasant St. where our girls were born. Fair & warm again: 85° or so & S. breeze. C. in a while P.M. while I talked with E.B. Gibbs. Tues. 11. Fair & hot, 87° or 88° max. Sharp thunder showers after 5:20 into the night. several phones burned out, & top 27 ft of Frank Robbins fir tree taken off & set down on the walk. Wed. 12. Rainy A.M. with some sharp lightning. Cloudy P.M. getting cooler. Thurs. 13. Cloudy & cold morn, 50° & northerly. Gradually clearing P.M. - C in P.M., & I out and about home after 4. - Both took supper at the church - called to M.B. Hendrick's office Evg. to make deed & mtg. - (Picked 16 lbs. grapes.) Fri. 14. Clear & cold morn. 46° N.E. breeze Fair day but quite cool E. wind. Left eye-ache coming on pm but let up on work & did not get very bad. Sat. 15. Cloudy morn. 67° & S.E. wind. Rain [(lejet)?] began 7:30. Fair P.M. Out & about garden after 2:30.
