October 24 1853 Randolph cty St Ills Dear Brother i take another opportunity of writing you afew lines we have not heard from you for a great while i wrote to you in June but have not so much as heard whether you ever received it or not wee are all in well at present I have done scarcely any work since corn was planted last spring but since cool weather has come i am getting better my complaint is that of the liver and it affects the bowels so that i cannot sand. the heat of summer - so a change of residence and business is in contemplation and actually necessary if i am spared. to spring since i wrote to you i have sold off at public sale my horses, farming tools, cattle, hogs, guns on the 22nd of September old Jersey brought 70 - 25 her and three colts brought 170 dollars wee kept one beast - two cows, and have got a one horse buggy perhaps you would like to know what I think of doing well i cant tell with any ceartainty but i have purchased a lot or an acre of ground in Sparta joining harvey Taylor it runs from main to broad street includes that mound west of harvey taylors, paid for it 60 dollars
