Tuesday, May 8, 1888 Cloudy, with many showers during day, & river still rising. Being "washing day" our folks up extra early. Boys both some better, but Leonard not enough so as to enjoy "birthday" very much he being just four years today. Mrs Post in with her boys, after tea. As well self certain, troubled less from cold, expect to go to W- soon as "stops raining", as G's postal from E'l says he shall come then. Wednesday 9 Rain thro' night, with less thro' day & prospect for "clearing up" this eve. Much same with our folks, & spending day much as usual, tho' of course Boys had to do most of their playing in doors. That self as well, with usual chores this A.M. did last weeks ironing, & some scribbling, with odd jobs at work on cover for Bird cage, but think did have a half "unconsciousness" in P.M. but not to think of
