Saturday August 30 Pleasant & tho' seeming very warm Mer didn't get much above 90°+. My foot & ankle all right, tho perhaps not quite as strong, but up in good season, found Lena at work preparing plums for marmalade, which we made 3 qts of, besides the usual cooking being done, not feeling very smart I did what resting I could & finished piece of work, (flannel shawl) & mending some. August 31 Pleasant still, & seeming warmer than yesterday being no breeze. Not feeling very strong I didn't get out to church, tho't had another good nights rest, Rose not well enough to get out either, having had trouble with stomache, I was over there an hour or so in A.M. Anna here most of P.M. also another friend awhile. E_ picked some of early grapes, he spent eve at home.
