Lena returned about 8 oc in eve Sunday September 7 Cloudy & cold this morning after raining during night. Ellery not up very early so our breakfast of course wasn't "very early" either. Millie helped me do up chores, & stopped till nearly time for service, but being quite muddy I concluded not to go, E_ out all A.M. writing suppose, I commenced letter to Aunt (Senina Wood?), but was too dull & nervous to finish it with all jobs had to do. September 8 Bright & pleasant, & still cold Mer. only 47°+ at 7 o,c, tho' it rose to 62°+ in P.M. as yesterday, but sun shining all day didn't seem as cold, Lena at washing so I did up chores after breakfast but she had washing out of way to get dinner, I kept busy at odd jobs in P.M. I went in to Mrs Howes of errand & she over here after making "(?) cushions". (rest of page illegible)
