The 120 wagons can carry 5 days rations when that is gone the army must subsist off of the country until communications is opened up. At daylight May 12" Logans division of the 17 A.C. came upon the confederate pickets at Fourteen Mile Creek a small tributary of the Big Black. it is Greggs division which has come in hot hast to dispute Grants advance on Jackson.
