Keosauqua Iowa April 10/58 My Dear Friend, What a deep calm prevades the sand when we first realize there is one on earth in whom we can confide entirely. On whom, centre all the purest, truest, & tenderest feelings of our nature next to our Heavenly father, And to one who has for so long, felt entirely alone, it is "as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land." How insignificant seem the ills of life when we know there is one ever ready to comfort & encourage us by their tenderest regard, & wise counsil; who will ever share all our joys & sorrows, who amid all the "changes & the blights of time" will be true & unchanging.
