Bloomfield Iowa April 15th 1858. Dear Clara:- I am once more seated at my desk vainly attempting to transcribe upon this bit of paper a part of my heart&'s most sacred feelings. Clara we have something to live for now, haven&'t we? The time is coming Clara, When I will be the happiest man this side of the "Father of waters". I have great reasons to thank my Heavenly father for his goodness towards me haven&'t I? I Cannot write a long letter this time, dear girl. You will excuse me, for not doing so, Won&'t you? But I shall confidently look for a Sweet letter on Saturday evening. Now Clara let it be a kind one, do.
