Bloomfield Iowa June 8th 1858, Dear Clara: Your highly valued letter of the 6th inst came duly to hand, and as you said of my last letter I will say of yours "it was the best letter, by a good deal, that you ever wrote, me. Clara, you have no idea how much good it did me to receive that letter from you. It [breathed?] just the right spirit, and you may rest assured that it was perused by me, until every line and sylable was transcribed upon my soul. I had been sick all the day, (as I had the day before) and I pledge you my word it helped me a good deal; it almost cured me. You say that you believe I understand you pretty well,
