-Friday- 10/22/43 Dearest: Well, surprise! I have a little time free in which to write. It seems that icing is so bad upstairs that we'll not try to fly until tonight. By the salutation on no. 222 I wonder whether I am your "dear" or "deer"! We awoke this morning to find the mountains had grown old during the night. They were white-headed. It is really cold out today. I suppose winter is about to set in. On the air mail stamps? I don't know just what kind of a plane that is. I suspect its a pre-war vintage of the Lockheed transport.
