1/2/43 Sat. a.m Dearest: This is the letter I had hoped never to write. I received my orders to report for active duty. They arrived about 10 a.m. today. I am to report Monday morning. I guess it's just as well we didn't know we were saying goodbye for longer than 3 or 4 weeks.
