Sunday 2/7/43 Dearest: Here I am still in the hospital but feeling pretty good. Don't know when I'll get out .... the Army doesn't tell you those things ... but it ought to be soon. (Does it mean something? No) I expect you're right about us being snobbish. In a way, though, there is nothing wrong with snobbish. We know the types of people we want for friends and we just won't take in others; but we can still be kindly to others. I'm not surprised you haven't heard from Dad. He's a much worse letter writer than I and he doesn't love you like I do. Oddly enough, he seems to think much more
