Army Air Forces Navigation School, San Marcos Texas 5/24/1943 Monday Night Hi, Kitten (not that you're less dear but to be different): Rather tired tonight and must be up at 5 a.m. tomorrow as I am flying. Today I spent at the office working on radius of action problems... how far we could go over water and get back to our field or an alternate field with the gas we have. We rarely land as our plane can go 1200 miles without refueling. When we do I have never yet left the airport. At Mexico City for instance we landed. I couldn't even describe the airfield there. I went from the plane to the ready room; filed my charts and Forms 1; slept a while; checked the weather, studied metro maps (Spanish doesn't make them useless), prepared my charts for return, had conference with the pilot and returned to the ship.
