1 Friday 4 June Hello Dearest: It's raining and I'm happy. No one can fly ... no missions to assign or brief. The Lt Col commanding here gave we line officers and all our men a holiday until tomorrow morning. So now you see. Its the first in a long time. This morning I and 12 planes out of my echelon took off about 10 a.m. We got off although the sky was overcast at about 2000 feet. For reasons we wanted to go to Houston and for reasons we could not fly over the overcast. As we got on course I noted the wind coming up; the clouds moving in and lowering.
