good letter so much can't you write oftener? I haven't received a letter this week with the exception of the short note which came with the express package it came all right-- tell Laura those [ties?] are [etherial?] and the gloves a perfect fit all so nice-- I surmise Ma handed Laura the money to get me something. Am I right? Many thanks. Has Pa been up to the city since I left. Does he feel queer not to have anybody to ask him for things tell him he may get something every time he goes and lay by for me till I come home. Then I will enjoy whatever it be just as much as if I were there to receive. I lost my [compass?] was fixing for a good cry over it when I found it, [illeg.] was delightfed with his switch it is superb tell Laura the veil is as nice as a new
