time we were so hungry we ate our dried-up dinner with a relish. Luckily I thought of pan cakes and made them for a week. The wood though is such stuff as we wouldn't burn in Ind. It will spoil my [recipes?] if we have such all winter. Frank says he'll get of Ora before we will take any more like it. If we could only have had papering and white-washing done before fixing it would have been better but we wouldn't have been house-keeping yet. So we decided to leave it till Spring. A neighbor who was plastering brought us some of the mortar he had left and I've stopped up the little holes (chuck full of bed-bugs) and then we will put two good coats of whitewash on before they have
