Corydon Iowa Oct 13th 1873 Dear Pa and Ma, I can't make it seem possible that our little darling is really dead. Oh our poor empty house and our aching hearts. Little Kate suffered so terribly all through that Thursday night - it seems yet like a horrible nightmare. We talk over and think over all the sweet ways and all the bright beautiful expressions that used to come over the dear little face, and they are precious memories.
