Saving...
I will have the costs to pay and then the property will be sold, and I presume I will be out all I have risked, but if Mr Allen had got hold of the property he would have given a great deal of trouble to have got it again. They seem to understand here that you executed a note, was sued on it and set up in Defence the (illegible) over this property. I told them the (note?) wa probably paid and that if they would present it I would pay it. I gave them to understand that the note was in the hands of a Cincinnati Merchant and was not due to A. M. Lyons Estate. If however the note should be produced after the property is free from encumbences, it could be collected, but I don't think they know anything about it. So far as Levi and myself taking the property - making you free from the note and agreeing to pay taxes on your Iowa land would be uncertain business, but I will do the best I can and make the most out of it possible, particularly, since I am interested in the costs with coming suit. Our love to you all write soon Your Son Orion A. Bartholomew
